The Best Nature Books of 2012

Have you noticed how cold it’s got over the last couple of days? As December is pushing itself into view our the window, and the icy temperatures have their foot in the door like an unwelcome salesperson, you might be in need of a good book or two to get you through the dark, winter nights in front of the fire.

Over the first seven days of December, I’ll be recommending and reviewing my favourite seven nature-related books that were published in 2012.  You might be on the lookout for a Christmas present for a friend, or you’re finishing off your own list to send off to Santa.  Either way, there’ll be something for everyone here.  The range of books represents my own wide interests in reading and each day, the featured book will be recommended along with a ‘perfect partner’, so you should find more than one book to interest you.  In total, I will be recommending 15 books over the course of the week, which will cover areas including zoology, geography, mythology, poetry, history, art, philosophy, storytelling and drama; each of them featuring a strong nature theme (incidentally, there will be no photography books).

So please come back and visit – feel free to leave a comment to let me know your views on any of the books that you’ve read, and tell me what else you’ve been reading this year.  Which books would you have preferred to see on my list, and what will you be recommending for your wildest, wild friends?

The reviews will be posted every day from 1st-7th December.  See you then, but in the meantime, wrap up warm!!
